Model Design, Inc.

Describe the featured project.

The success of this project was a result of the collaboration between the client, architect Douglas Leach, builder Andy Vidovich, myself and the many talented craftsmen who helped bring our vision to life. This fourth-generation Hermosa Beach family wanted to create a new space that would mark a new chapter in their lives with their growing family—now with grandchildren. The design style, Coastal Craftsman, pays tribute to Hermosa Beach’s unique Beach City roots while creating a timeless home for future generations.

We thoughtfully incorporated the family’s heirloom pieces, blending antiques with modern furniture to create a seamless connection of past, present and future. The project reflects my approach to interior design—deep collaboration with clients and the team, respect for history, and an understanding of how important it is to craft spaces that honor both tradition and innovation. The natural materials, carefully selected color palettes and textures come together to create a home that feels both fresh and timeless.

What truly made this project special was the respect and appreciation the entire team had for each other, especially the client. This was one of my favorite projects, as it encapsulates my philosophy of blending tradition with innovation, honoring the past while creating spaces that feel modern and enduring.

Describe your design philosophy.

My design philosophy is rooted in my background as an artist, with a foundation built on art, sculpture, architecture and interior design through my studies at Otis and UCLA. This diverse education informs every choice I make, allowing me to approach each project with a unique artistic lens while always prioritizing the needs and vision of the client. The most rewarding aspect of my work is creating spaces where families will thrive and make lasting memories. After over 20 years in business, I am most grateful for my clients’ trust. I am equally grateful for the talented architects and builders I’ve had the honor of working with. I look forward to continuing to create meaningful, timeless spaces for years to come.

Tell us about your family and team.

Our story begins with my grandfather, Elio Baiocchi, who founded the company and nurtured a love for design in me from a very young age. The lessons he imparted in architecture, construction and art influence every project I undertake. I am fortunate to work alongside many talented architects, including my husband, Jeff Browning, whose expertise complements my own. At the core of our practice is a dedicated team that ensures each project reflects the unique dreams of our clients.
