BEAM Aesthetic Lounge specializes in aesthetic treatments such as wrinkle relaxers, dermal fillers, chemical peels, lasers, skin treatments and elevated skin care. Owner Lizette Ludwig is a South Bay native and a nurse practitioner. She earned her Bachelor of Science in nursing from California State University, Dominguez Hills, and a Master of Science in nursing as a family nurse practitioner from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences. She opened BEAM Aesthetic Lounge in April 2023.

Tell us about your business.

Our goal is to provide our clients with exclusive access to individualized treatments and a luxury experience. We believe that good skin is more than just a goal; it’s a lifestyle.

We offer a range of services and specialize in minimally invasive aesthetic procedures. Our niche is combining skin treatments with injectables to deliver a natural result. Our services include injectables for wrinkles and volume loss, laser treatments to improve skin tone and texture, medical-grade chemical peels for hyperpigmentation, and medical-grade skin care products for at-home use. We take the time to get to know our patients and their skin so we can create a customized and sustainable treatment plan. 

What inspired you to pursue a career in this field? 

I have been a registered nurse for 20 years, and I love what I do! My inspiration comes from my community of patients. It goes beyond injections and treatments; it’s about building meaningful relationships with my patients and helping them feel confident in their own skin.

In what ways do you stand out in this market? 

Our approach at BEAM Aesthetic Lounge is to enhance your natural features by delivering soft and subtle results that look natural and never overdone! We educate our patients on the importance of skin care maintenance through in-office treatments and customized at-home skin care regimens. We want you to feel like the best version of yourself. 

What are the latest trends in your industry that you’re loving? 

I love regenerative treatments—procedures that aim to stimulate the body’s natural healing processes and promote the regeneration of skin, tissue and cells. Think of it as your body’s ability to repair and rejuvenate itself. Some examples of regenerative treatments are platelet-rich plasma, exosomes, growth factors and microneedling. 

How does community impact your business.

Community plays a vital role in the success and growth of any business. I have been fortunate enough to live and work in Manhattan Beach for many years. Building relationships with clients and local businesses in the community has had a significant impact on the growth of BEAM. The South Bay is a special place! 

How is your company leading the way with women in positions of authority?

As a small business, I’m proud to say that BEAM is owned and operated by a team of women. As the founder, I actively strive to create a work environment where the women around me are empowered to excel and advance in their careers.

How do you support other women in business? 

Supporting women in business has always been important to me, even long before I became a business owner myself. I come from a long line of entrepreneurial women, as both of my grandmothers owned small businesses at a time when most women did not work. So when I hear about other women in business, I want to learn about the founder and her story and discover ways in which I can support the business. Every purchase, referral, word of mouth, like and comment on social media matters and makes a difference. 

Tell us about your family. 

It’s interesting that in my professional life I am surrounded by female energy, while at home I’m surrounded by male energy with my husband and two sons. It’s a great balance! I’ve been married to my husband for 17 years, and our energetic sons keep us busy. Having a supportive partner who believes in your goals and vision can make a significant difference for a woman in business.

Describe your dream client.

Someone who is invested in their daily skin routine and comes in for routine in-office treatments, preferring a natural aesthetic. They understand that a healthy lifestyle is an essential part of healthy skin, and they aren’t afraid to prioritize self-care. 

What struggles have you faced in Your work? 

I have faced many struggles, such as overcoming self-doubt and balancing work-life responsibilities as a wife and a mom. For other women facing similar challenges: Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone. Trust your abilities, and don’t let self-doubt hold you back from something you’re meant to do. I love my family, and the hardest thing about being a working mom is not always being available. I have learned to lean in to the simple everyday moments together because those are the ones that will last forever.
