Speak about the importance of community to your business.

Community has been at the heart of my interior design journey. As a homeowner in Manhattan Beach and with my store located downtown for the past 10 years, I have the pleasure of connecting with my neighbors and clients daily—helping me build strong relationships and understand the unique needs of our community.

Vendors are eager to have their latest products showcased in our store because they know we reach a discerning audience. This keeps us ahead of trends and ensures we always offer fresh, exciting options.

Being deeply rooted in the community means everything to me. It allows me to bring a personal touch to my work, and it’s a dream to see how our designs enhance both the lives and the landscape around us.

Tell us about your experience as a woman working in design.

The interior design profession has evolved significantly since I graduated from design school. Back then, interior design was often seen as a luxury, and I frequently had to advocate for the value of my services to builders—especially in an industry predominantly led by men. This was intimidating, particularly at the start of my career, as I had to convince them that the architect’s plans were just the beginning and that our work was essential to creating a complete, functional and beautiful space.

Today my company is leading the way by ensuring that women are in key positions of authority. We understand the importance of having diverse voices at the decision-making table. By fostering an environment where women can thrive, we not only bring a fresh perspective to our projects but also empower the next generation of female designers to lead with confidence and creativity. We have created a supportive, inclusive company culture where talented women can rise to leadership roles, make impactful decisions and shape the future of our industry.
