Self Care: We Got You

Business Spotlight

Are you exhausted from all the summer fun? Do you need a “ME-cation” after the family getaway? Just the one of you? Beach days, backyard barbecues, concerts here and afar, hiking, biking and relatives visiting. It’s a lot of fun but also, well, just a lot.

Valerie Sartini of Treasures Interior Design has the antidote to all that. She and her team design spaces to de-crank the cranky and restore your energy when you’re running on your very last little fume.

One of the best investments to stave off the world’s everyday crazy, Valerie suggests, is the primary en suite bathroom. It can serve as a serene space from the time we squint awake, pre-coffee, to the time we lay our heads on the pillow. And when we need a little escape, say with some bubbles and a good book, it invites us in: close the door, flip on a gentle playlist, step in the tub … and the traffic jam, the grocery cart with the bum wheel and the neighbor’s barking dog all disappear!

“I like to create a tranquil space in the primary bathroom using neutral colors and natural light,” Valerie explains. “It makes a calming, serene and very personal space where people can decompress and relax. Who doesn’t need that on a regular basis?”

She points out that another thing that helps create a peaceful space in the primary bath is reducing the clutter. “I love clear counters and hidden hooks. I like robes and towels tucked away. So we design with intention, to be organized behind cabinets: plugs in drawers and compartments to store products and tools.”

Crisp, luxurious bath towels and mats, recessed lighting and beautiful wall sconces add to the spa-like feel in a primary en suite designed to restore. And music always sets a mood. Valerie makes sure the in-home music system can stream to every part of the house, including bathrooms.

“There are so many ways we can design a space in a home to help our clients relax. Creating a luxurious and custom en suite just off the primary bedroom is one of the best ways to do just that,” Valerie smiles.
