Sun, sand and surf will again play backdrop for the second installation of BeachLife Ranch, scheduled for September 24–26 at Redondo Beach’s King Harbor. The 2023 lineup has an eclectic roster with bands that undoubtedly will appeal to many musical tastes—from traditional to modern country to Americana.

Headliners include The Avett Brothers, The Doobie Brothers, Cody Jinks, Wynonna Judd and Brad Paisley. But what makes this year different is the inclusion of what could be referred to as “surf ranch music” with Friday night’s headliner, surf-folk superstar Jack Johnson. “Getting Jack Johnson to play was the goal from the start,” shares Jim Lindberg, Pennywise front man and BeachLife brand director. “He epitomizes beach and surf culture and is the ultimate perfect fit for our festival.”
Speaking of former professional surfers, Donavon Frankenreiter will take the stage with Devon Allman, the son of Gregg Allman, in what they hope will be a record-breaking night fit for the Guinness World Records. “If we pull this off, we will have done 50 shows in 50 states in 49 days,” explains Donavon.

BeachLife cofounder Allen Sanford has described the event as a festival for non-festival-goers because it brings out a crowd that doesn’t make the usual festival rounds. Southern BBQ will be the food on order. The mechanical bull will be back, as will the ever-popular line dancing—this time not just a karaoke version but with live bands.
Chris Isaak, known for his song “Wicked Game,” will take the stage on Sunday. The song reached a new milestone when the winner of NBC’s The Voice season 23, Gina Miles, sang it and secured her spot in the show’s finals.

Larkin Poe’s Rebecca Lovell and Megan Lovell have also covered the tune, adding slide guitar and a Southern acoustic twang. It would be a perfect live battle on the sand if fans are lucky enough to see them take the stage with Chris. If not, maybe fans will have an opportunity to see Rebecca perform with her husband, Tyler Bryant, when he plays with his band Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown.
Excited to be returning is Shooter Jennings and Friends, performing a revival based on songs by The Highwaymen. Last year, Shooter’s set included a revival of the songs of his father, Waylon Jennings.

Nashville musician Levi Kelley, who has planned a trip out West with his family to attend BeachLife Ranch, is most excited about Blackberry Smoke. “Blackberry Smoke is a breath of fresh air, as it offers a rich southern rock,” he shares. “Charlie Starr is definitely on my top three of favorite front men quite possibly of all time.”
Whether or not country music is your thing, this lineup is sure to offer music lovers of all genres something within their musical tastes. Folk rock band Goodnight, Texas shattered streaming when their hit song “The Railroad” was showcased on Netflix’s Tiger King. Keb’ Mo’ is surely not going to disappoint. His sound embraces multiple genres, including blues pop, rock folk and jazz.
