Calleros Dental in El Segundo, owned by Dr. Sandra Calleros, offers high-tech general dentistry–with an emphasis on cosmetic dentistry–in a brand new, beautiful, relaxing setting. Dr. Calleros graduated from the UCLA School of Dentistry and has been in practice in the South Bay (and a Manhattan Beach resident) for more than 24 years. She attends continuing education courses at the world-renowned Scottsdale Center for Dentistry. “I love my classes in Scottsdale,” Dr. Calleros tells us. “Learning new things is not really work to me, because I enjoy it so much.”

What’s one trend that is changing dentistry today?

“The trend toward digital dentistry. We are paperless. All of our charting, X-rays and other communications are digital. We design porcelain crowns, veneers and onlays on our CAD/CAM CEREC computer in our office in one visit. We have computers in each room with monitors directly in front of the patients to educate and communicate with them about their dental health. We update our website consistently, and we like social networking, including our Facebook page under the name Sandra Calleros.”

What do you like to do for fun, when you’re not at work?

“I love riding my horse and my road bike, mountain bike riding, hiking, skiing and tennis. I love the outdoors. I also love spending time with my two children: a 22-year-old daughter who attends San Diego State University and a 20-year-old son who attends the El Camino College Fire Academy.”

How do you give back to your community?

“Serving the community is very important to my team and I. Throughout the year we make it a point to participate in various charity events. Each year we team up with organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, Maria Shriver’s Modern House Call, and local South Bay shelters to provide complimentary dental services to underserved families who otherwise would not be able to afford regular dental treatment.”

Tell us about the staff at your practice.

“I take great pleasure in bragging about my staff. I can’t do what I do without them. They work so well as a team together. Everyone takes pride in their work. They are dedicated to improving their skills by going to seminars on an ongoing basis. They are also very creative, always thinking of ways to improve our patient care. All three of our hygienists are laser-certified. Each team member truly cares about our patients.”

What’s most rewarding about your work?

“Being able to make a significant change in someone’s life by using my experience, talent, and skills to improve someone’s oral health and aesthetics. It is such a great feeling to be able to do that!”
