Realtor Lauren Forbes has been specializing in South Bay real estate since 2000. Her latest professional “leap” is from NW Real Estate to the real estate giant Coldwell Banker. In 2009, John Corrales convinced Lauren that downtown in the heart of Manhattan Beach is the place to be. Now, having established an even stronger foothold in the South Bay market, Lauren and John are anchoring the newest Coldwell Banker office, located at 1300 Highland Avenue in Unit 105.
What is your educational background?
“My parents would say I majored in socializing in high school, which I guess is why selling comes so easy to me. I did manage to graduate with high marks and finish college in four years near the top of my class. After graduation from Loyola Law School, working at a top-notch litigation firm provided me with the negotiation and presentation skills that give my clients the competitive edge in our complicated real estate market.”
Tell us about your team/work environment.
“For the last three years, John Corrales and I and our fabulous associate, Amy Vitrano, have been working `trading floor style’ in one room. The energy, synergy and inspiration that we all gain from being in one room with no walls makes every day an adventure. At any given moment, there are contracts being inked, conference calls conversing, ads printed, clients stopping by and so much more.”
What is your forecast for the 2012 real estate market?
“No matter what the world economy is doing, we are uniquely qualified and positioned to ensure that our clients outperform. That being said, we feel that this market will thrive in 2012. There has been an extremely light inventory for the last year; that combined with historically low interest rates and pent-up demand for housing is a recipe for a fast-paced first quarter and potentially first half of 2012.”
What are your New Year’s resolutions?
“I want to get myself into ballet pointe shoes by 2013. As a child and teenager, I was an avid ballerina and even danced for a small ballet company in Laguna. It has been many years, but a good friend recently dragged me to an adult ballet class, and it made my heart sing. Of course I have some of the usual resolutions too, like lose a few pounds, quit coffee and sell more real estate than I ever have in a year!”
