What inspired you both to open Waterleaf?
“As best friends with a passion for design, we traveled the country together, visiting local trade shows and markets, on a quest to find unique resources that reflected our own personal style. After years of compiling goods and resources and a warehouse overflowing with more than we could fit in our homes, we felt it was time to open Waterleaf. Our doors opened in the summer of 2006, and we have never looked back. Waterleaf has everything from gifts and artwork, along with furniture that can be purchased right off the floor. The accessory collection is amazing for the last layering of perfection, which makes the house a home. After being open a short period of time, we realized that our design business was growing rapidly, and we needed to expand our design staff as well as our selection of merchandise. This allows us to cater to our clients building homes. We then began to carry flooring, wall coverings, paint samples, tile and stone, hardware and lighting fixtures, in addition to a much larger selection of fabrics.”
What makes Waterleaf unique from other designers?
“As moms and business women, we appreciate the precious value of time, and the management of it is crucial. We love what we do, and we love helping others see their dream come to fruition. We work efficiently and effectively to create an environment that is timeless and appropriate to the unique lifestyle of this area. Having a showroom and store enables customers and clients to spend hours working on their project, rather than fighting traffic and exhausting different options.”
Tell us about your expansion.
“The new Waterleaf has a beautiful conference area for meetings with clients, architects, contractors and tradespeople. We have a showroom filled with options to finish a project—from the flooring underfoot to the lighting fixtures overhead. We have office space for our Waterleaf family, which includes two principal designers, three assistant designers and five wonderful people who support the firm and run the store. Lastly, but still very important to the staging and installation of a project, is our new warehouse and loading dock. That part is not glamorous, but we love it! Please come visit us any day of the week.”
