What is the history of your company?
“I’ve been in the interior design business for 31 years before which I obtained a degree in interior design. The focus of my business is custom homes from the conception stage and through construction with the architect and the client. I look at the whole process as a very collaborative team effort. I work with the architect on floor plans and construction concerns, as well as design the interiors, window treatments, lighting plans and finishing touches to make every project a completed home. I’ve worked on homes throughout the country.”
What makes your firm unique in this industry?
“I believe that the genesis of a home is the client’s personality. My job is to translate the client’s personality and lifestyle into a tasteful, warm and inviting space. I don’t have one set style, but I believe in maintaining the purity of each architectural style. My philosophy avoids predictable interiors; I love the `wow’ factor caused by a great interior. I consider my innate talent to be in color theory. I design a custom palate for every home and that palate is consistent throughout the project. I want the entire home to flow and have continuity and identity through color.”
Describe the project you featured.
“This is a newly remodeled, 6,000-square-foot home in the Hermosa Beach Hill section. The architectural style is Mediterranean, & the clients have a very formal aesthetic. It’s Montecito-inspired, with a lovely, elegant feeling.”
What are your current projects?
“I have worked on many great homes in the South Bay area, but my current projects are residential projects in the Santa Monica Canyon and a lake house in Vermont. It’s great to have creative projects in such diverse areas. It’s been wonderful to have a career span three decades and across so many geographical regions.”
