What is the history of your company?

“As a native of the South Bay, my company and I naturally evolved from a framer to a designer at an early age while attending Mira Costa. I saw the beauty in design while framing these structures, and I wanted to contribute more to the community. In the ‘80s, I started my company as a sole proprietor, and today we have a staff of professionals that collaborate on a range of services, including architecture, real estate, construction, construction management, interior design and landscape design.”

What makes your company different?

“As a design + build firm, we offer our clients the complete package—from conceptual designs to construction services. With everything inhouse, we have the responsibility to help our client’s vision turn into a reality within their allocated budget. Our approach has proven positive over the years. We continue to develop a large client base that appreciates the value of a design  + build firm that incorporates sustainable design strategies as well as a coastal lifestyle attitude with each project.”

Describe the project featured.

“Originally built as a tract home overlooking the Pacific Ocean, we wanted to transform this space into a well-designed space for the family that loves to entertain. Because of the location and design restrictions, our design focused on opening the interior spaces, bringing in more natural light and ventilation and creating spaces that extend outdoors for a true indoor/outdoor lifestyle. The project developed over a 12-month period of design and construction. In the end, our clients appreciated all the hard work, attention to detail and the hands-on approach our firm offers.”

What’s on the horizon for your company?

“The future looks promising for Lane Design + Build. Our company will continue to develop our passion for design, the connection to the outdoors, and to develop amazing projects for our clients. We will continue to promote sustainable designs and expand our services within our office. With our real estate department, we will help our clients acquire properties and to achieve the American dream of ‘custom’ home ownership.”
