10/18/12Healthy HalloweenIn just thirteen days candles will be flickering inside pumpkins, doorbells ringing, and action heroes and zombies roaming neighborhoods all over America. But party-goers and trick-or-treaters won’t be the only ones dressing up this year. Unofficially known as FrankenFoods, there’s a whole new crop of GMOs in those candy baskets. Are you still getting tricked by those treats? What makes Halloween 2012 especially interesting is California’s Prop 37. If passed on November 6th the law would require my secret stash of sweets to wear a very revealing costume, exposing their genetically modified contents (eg. GM corn syrup, GM soy emulsifier, GM beet sugar, GM cottonseed oil, etc.) beneath their “natural” veneer. Plenty of spooktacular studies... |
