Designer/stylist Dawn Baker is the owner of two boutiques: happy LA in Pacific Palisades and her namesake store, Dawn Baker, in Manhattan Beach. Dawn, who oversees all aspects of the boutiques’ operations, has more than 15 years experience in fashion merchandising and production as well as styling television personalities. She has worked in merchandising for Isaac Mizrahi, J.Crew, Calvin Klein, Donna Karan and Nicole Miller, and her work as the lead stylist for The Ellen DeGeneres Show led to an Emmy nomination. The Dawn Baker boutique carries the Dawn Baker brand, as well as designer denim, silk tops and dresses, as well as jewelry, sandals and accessories.
What would you like potential clients to know about you?
“When I decided to create my own line, my focus was on designing chic, timeless, affordable essentials to complement women of all shapes and sizes. People walk out of my store looking good and feeling good about themselves.”
What can you tell us about your personal life?
“I love to spend time with my family and friends. I also take the time to really enjoy and appreciate the beauty of where I live, by the beach. I believe that what you give out is what you get back in return. I give lots of love and attention to the people around me, and I get it back tenfold. I am so grateful for my life.”

“I have a very strong work ethic. I am visual and detail-oriented, and I believe that communication is the key to running a successful business.”

“Having the opportunity to give a woman confidence in herself.”
How do you give back to your community?
“I believe philanthropy is so important. In addition to hosting shopping parties once or twice per month in which a percentage of the sales is donated to local schools and organizations, I also volunteer weekly at my daughter’s school.”
