California Animal Rehabilitation (CARE) has provided comprehensive alternative care for South Bay pets since 2007. The clinic combines the education and expertise of veterinarian and co-owner Jessica Waldman and doctor of physical therapy and co-owner Amy Kramer, both certified in canine rehabilitation, and their staff of 16. Jessica is a certified veterinary acupuncturist and Amy practiced “people” physical therapy for 16 years prior to opening CARE. “We have created a great business partnership by having our own styles and strengths that complement each other,” Amy says. “This is really an ideal partnership.” Check them out on Facebook and Twitter.
What would you like potential clients to know about you?
Jessica: “Surgery, euthanasia and drugs are not the only answer for our injured, aged and ailing pets. Rehabilitation is extremely successful for people, and finally it is an option for our beloved pets.”
Was there a defining moment in your career that guided you to where you are now?
Amy: “After my own dog Lucy had knee surgery at age 5, I used my physical therapy knowledge, and within a week of treating her (just as I would a human patient), she had full range of motion. That is when the light bulb went on!”
What’s most rewarding about your work?
Amy: “We are able to help pets live longer, healthier and more active lives. Additionally, so many pets we have helped avoid surgery or come off harmful pain medication. It is so amazing to see the miracles we see each and every day.”
