Danny Boehle, Owner

Fonz’s

1017 Manhattan Ave. in Manhattan Beach | 310-376-1536 | fonzs.com

Located on the beach and featuring steaks and seafood, Fonz’s was opened in August 1997 by local beach volleyball legend Mike Dodd and current owner Danny Boehle. Danny refers to it as the “Cheers of Manhattan Beach.” It features high-end food in a “beach-casual” atmosphere.

The Squad

“Walter Tomlinson (Gator), John Churchill (Church) and Aimee Fahlbusch make up the core for the management team. Chef Margarito Garcia—what can I say, he is by far the most dedicated worker I have ever been around. He has worked his way to the top by hard work and experience. Luis Cruz runs the night shift and is as solid as you can get. The kitchen staff continues to grow in their efforts to be the best they can. Their work ethic is impeccable. And last but not least, my wait staff and bussers, most of which have been with me for six years or more. We have built a family that’s going to be around a long time to serve the South Bay.”

What’s most rewarding about your work?

“Meeting new people and seeing how stoked they are when they leave. And just plain hanging with all the locals that frequent Fonz’s. That’s the best.”

What is one word that you most want associated with your restaurant?

“Family.”

Thanks Danny - I had a great last Supper at the Fonz tonite.
I remember the first time I had dinner at your place, my sister flew in from Helena, Montana and was veeery excited about visiting your place (because her boyfriend's name was Fonz! and he had a bar in Helena called Fonz!) ... Anyhow, I had the pleasure of meeting your Father and only wished he had been there when you, his only begotten Son, zinged Walter with "Hi, I am Jesus of Nazareth" when he glanced down at your jesus sandals -- Walter's Holy Ghost/startled look was priceless...
I always knew your wicked tongue would save you.

ps: love the Bully, Black Octopus and Cook portrait ...classic
