Established in 1983 by Bernadette George, Elegance Boutique Spa & Medical Aesthetics is a place of peace and tranquility, offering customized facials, waxing, lash tinting and extensions, massage treatments with complimentary foot soaks, and a wide range of medical aesthetics and elite products. The spa recently introduced the Well Manicured cottage, with owner Melanie McCulley. Dubbed the “manicurist to the stars,” Melanie brings 14 years of professionalism, advanced techniques and expert nail care to Elegance. Bernadette, an aesthetician licensed since 1978, and Melanie, licensed since 1998, have both devoted their careers to creating flawless work and building long-lasting relationships with their clients. 

Do you offer a signature service?

Bernadette: “We now offer The HarmoniousTrio, our luxurious 90-minute express service, where you can enjoy your customized facial perfectly synchronized with a mani and pedi … all performed simultaneously. This is the ultimate in time-saving decadence! Nails for Males is our efficient and privately offered nail service provided exclusively for men. We offer nail treatments designed for gentleman to look and feel their best—all while they enjoy a beer in a frosty mug!”

How do you stay on top of the latest trends and advances in your field? 

Melanie: “I’ve been a long-time celebrity mobile manicurist, plus an educator for Nail Harmony/Gelish. This keeps me constantly in the front lines to all the latest beauty and nail trends.”

Tell us about your location.

“What’s great about Elegance is that we’re nestled in the heart of North Manhattan Beach, which is surrounded by a plethora of fitness, yoga and healthy eats options. It’s a beautiful area in which we can represent, as a whole, the benefits of total health, beauty and wellness to the community.”

What is one of the biggest challenges clients face today?  

Melanie: “We all want the best job for the most affordable price, and that can be challenging to find in the nail care world. The bitterness of poor quality lingers long after the sweetness of the lowest price. I provide clean, noteworthy work for reasonable prices, which results in loyal, well-pleased clients.”
